One industry award you could say might be lucky or a one off, two awards – not bad - probably well deserved, three awards – impressive, but four, five, six . . . meteoric perhaps?! What am I going on about you may be grimacing? OK, I’ll tell you with great glee . . .

Yes, I was one of the 11.something million people watching the dwindling hopefuls vie for fame and fortune on Saturday night’s X Factor (no mention of the £1m contract this year I notice!). Surprisingly, more of the entertainment was centred on the illustrious judges’ panel than the nervous contestants on stage. This week’s theme was rock but clearly this genre was open to interpretation resulting in some disquiet.

I read recently that we lag behind most developed countries – 25th place in fact - in using the power of social media to find jobs. According to the survey, conducted by Kelly Global Workforce Index™, only 20% of job seekers use this route. Astounding, you may think, considering the unemployment levels and general adoption of online membership to social websites. The most common reason cited by those surveyed was being compromised because of the sensitivity of the personal content published. Does this mean the Brits are a little more prone to embellishment or projecting a less than ideal image to potential employers than our international counterparts?

It’s not often I get the chance to help promote the giving away of £250K of my client’s services! Fantastic I thought - I’ve always supported the idea of philanthropy by proxy! Blue Sheep is running a competition that will help to transform the fortunes of the winning business. It’s a marketer’s utopia – you may think. But even ‘giving’ valuable services away has to be done professionally and attractively - otherwise suspicions and cynicism may stop ideal potential candidates from applying to win the booty. Let me tell you a little more - maybe it will whet your appetite to have a go.
Well, with the speed of change in digital marketing it was inevitable that our online presence, aka website, would get a makeover. We’ve lived with it for years and I suppose it turned into a comfortable old armchair. Sadly, we had to say au revoir - but in the same breathe, bonjour! to our new, fresh interface.
